He is being offered for sale as I don't need him anymore and he is way to nice to not be breeding mares. He was imported all the way from Wales ( cost to import a horse to Calgary per container with quaranteen is @$9100). I have been turning away mares for breeding as I don't take outside mares when I have a stallion for my own use. We purchased him to cross on my old Quarter horse mares for some smaller, sportier horses for myself for personal use. I got the most incredible gray babies from him that are keepers. Tarquin was used on a Section B Welsh farm before I got him and they retained his daughters for the next phase of their breeding program.
Tarquin went to his first show in 2013, and though he was a mature stallion at this point, and it was his first outing, he was a total gentleman. He took home some big championships, including Supreme Champion and Grand Champion Sport Pony ( most competitive division). Tarquin is a proven sire as well and his offspring have been raking in championships as well: they’ve come in with the top championships in the Welsh, Model Hunter, and Sport Pony divisions. As he’s a young stallion, his offspring are now starting training for riding and driving, and their willing, sensible temperaments are being noted.
His family is known for producing typey, quality ponies—Tarquin’s sire, Cwrtycadno Cymro, has been leased to many breeding programs in Europe and is well known as “a true Welshman”, as so many have told us. Between Cymro and a very lovely dam—known as one of the Countess of Dysart’s two best mares at her famous Polaris Stud—plus close up Coed Coch Berwynfa, this stallion has a wonderful pedigree, unique to North America. Tarquin is a paternal brother to Royal Welsh winner Cwrtycadno Perlen and to Llanarth Da Vinci, among many others.
We love Tarquin’s long, shapely neck and depth of chest, his great legs and hooves, and his look of quality and class while retaining good bone for his height. He has consistently stamped his offspring with quality.
Welsh cross amazing on Quarter horses, Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds, Arabians, Welsh ect.. He has the look of a mini - Andalusion and will surely make gorgeous , probably gray babies that are extremely athletic and smart no matter what he is bred to!
